TEC POLYSEAL G
TEC POLYSEAL G
SEALANT-POLYSULPHIDE GUN GRADE
KEY BENEFITS AND FEATURES
- Exhibits exceptional bonding properties to most building materials.
- Cured sealant forms into a sturdy, elastic material displaying rubber like flexibility.
- Demonstrates excellent movement accommodation capability in expansion joints and joints with variable movement cycles within the range of + 25%.
- Hard-wearing under tough weather conditions and resistant to rain, snow heat cycles and UV radiations.
- Resistant to water, salt water, mild acids and alkali's, fuels like petrol, diesel, aviation fuels, lubricating oils and white spirits
- Non sag properties permits application in horizontal, vertical conditions and even in ceiling applications
- Available in pour grade for industrial floor joint applications and Airport Runways.
- Does not stain the concrete surface over which it is applied.
- Excellent elastic recovery properties even after long periods.
- Conforms to BS 4254:1983.
USAGE
- Excellent for use as Expansion Joint Sealant in Buildings.
- Can be used in vertical joints, horizontal joints and over head applications in both inner and outer side applications.
- Ideal for industrial floor joints in a variety of industries.
- Can be used for expansion joint sealing in Airport Apron and Runways remaining unaffected by the vehicular movement.
- Ideal joint sealant of concrete parking bays.
- Can be used for joints between diverse construction materials like glass, aluminum, steel, and glazing and in water retaining structures.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Joint Size
TecR Polyseal G/Pcan be used for joints of width ranging from 5 to 50mm. Joints with cyclical movements should have an optimum width: depth ratio of 2:1. The recommended minimum joint depths for corresponding surfaces are:-
Metals, glass and other non-porous surfaces | 5 mm |
---|---|
Porous surfaces like masonry and concrete | 10 mm |
For trafficked joints and joints subject to hydraulic pressures | 20 mm |
Surface Preparation
All surfaces coming in contact with the sealant must be free of dirt, oil, grime, curing compounds and other contaminants. Concrete surface should be roughened to improve bond. Application of Primer- TecR Polyseal Primer is essential for most applications as the primer promotes adhesion. The primer should be brushed on to the sealant contact areas and the primer should be relatively dry before application of the sealant.
Joint Preparation
Back up Rod / Pad should be provided to insure the optimum Width: Depth ratio of 2:1. The back up material should be a bond breaker (should not bond to the sealant) to prevent three-way stress on the sealant. Ideally foamed Polyethylene strip or neoprene sponge or cord may be used. Use of masking tapes along the joint edges will enhance neatness of the job and prevent the sealant from spreading on the face of the joint. The tape should be removed immediately after tooling the sealant.
Mixing
TecR Polyseal G/Pis supplied in a single pack containing both base and curing agent. To obtain a uniform homogenous mix the use of as low speed paddle mixer (not more than 300RPM) is ideal. Mixing should continue till a uniform shade is obtained. Although small quantities may be mixed with a palette Knife, for achieving mix uniformity a paddle mixer would be ideal. In both cases achieving a uniform mix is vital.
Application
Gun Grade sealant may be applied using a steel spatula or a caulking gun. To obtain a smooth surface the sealant has to be tooled using a flat stainless steel spatula over its surface. This enables removal of any entrapped air. Pour grade sealant does not require tooling. Immediately after tooling is complete the masking tape provided should be removed.
Post Application
TecR Polyseal G/P should be allowed to self cure at room temperature for a minimum period of 24 hours before being opened to pedestrian traffic. Vehicular traffic may be allowed after 7 days of curing at room temperature. Prior inspection by the applicator is advised before permitting traffic.

PRECAUTIONS
Direct contact with skin or eyes should be avoided. Use of gloves, goggles and other protective gear is mandatory. Enclosed
spaces should have adequate ventilation. Where ventilation is inadequate use of suitable breathing apparatus is advised. In case of accidental eye contact thorough water washing is advised. This should be followed up with professional medical assistance. Neither the individual components nor the mix should be swallowed.
Primer is highly inflammable and should be kept away from heat. Prolonged inhalation of the vapor should be avoided.
Storage and Shelf life
TecR Polyseal must be stored in cold ,places , dry location. Shelf life is maximum of 1 year from date of manufacture in unopened package. Failure to comply with there commended storage conditions may result in premature deterioration of the product or packaging.
CLEANING
Tools and equipments should be cleaned with TecR Nova SOL- Tool Cleaner when the mix is in uncured state. Cured mix can only be removed mechanically.
Packaging
Available in 1Kg and 3Kg Tins.
