TEC SWELL
TEC SWELL
GROUT ADMIXTURE
KEY BENEFITS AND FEATURES
- Expansive property compensates plastic shrinkage in adequately designed cementitous grouts.
- Affords permanent expansion to grouts under restraint.
- Lack of iron content ensures that the placed grout does not stain or deteriorate due rusting.
- Gives the grout a free flowing consistency ensuring easy placement.
- High early strength is achieved without use of chlorides.
- Plastic settlement in cementitous grouts is eliminated.
- Reduced water/cement ratio lowers permeability in grouts thereby ensuring improved durability and increased life of the grout.
USAGE
- Ideal admixture for Pressure Grouting of cementitous slurries.
- Suited as an admixture for bed grouting applications.
- Suited as an admixture for bed grouting applications.
- Can be effectively used for non-shrink infilling applications.
- Can be used as an admixture for joint filling mortars.
- Can be used as an additive in mortars for filling large cracks.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Surface Preparation
All surfaces coming in contact with grout must be free of dirt, oil, grime, curing compounds and other contaminants. Concrete surface should be roughened to improve bond. Surface should be saturated with water for several hours prior to placement. Surface should be saturated surface dry (SSD) with no ponding immediately prior to placement of grout.
Form Preparation
All forms should be treated with -TecR Release MA- Mould Release compound. Forms should be caulked at all seams which can be done with a trowel able consistency grout or a caulking compound .Unrestrained surface area of grout should be kept to the minimum.
Mixing
Small quantities may be mixed using a slow speed drill fitted with a mixing paddle. For larger quantities a drum mixer along with a holding tank would be ideal. The holding tank must be provided with a mild agitation system so that the uniformity of grout mix is maintained. Required water followed by correct dose of TecR Swell should be discharged into the mixer first. Cement and sand (if required) should then be added to mix slowly and mixing should continue till a uniform free flowing mix of desired consistency is
obtained.
Placement
The area to be grouted should be saturated surface dry. Grout can be placed by hand or pump. Hand placement should be by one continuous flow from one side of the area to be grouted. Venting in the base plate can avoid trapping of air. Vibrating of grouts should be avoided. Pumping grout in place is desirable on larger placements and should be done in an uninterrupted, continuous process. While pressure grouting the depth of nozzles should be decided ensuring that the pumped slurry enters the pores. Venting should be adequate for displacement of entrapped air. In all cases continuous operation is vital and mixing and placing should be over in 30 minutes to benefit from the expansion process.
Curing
Grout must be cured immediately after placement and striking it off. TecR Cure WB is recommended as the curing compound. Proper curing minimizes surface dusting, checking and cracking. Leave forms in place as long as possible to take advantage of the forms for an excellent cure. Proper curing is extremely imperative.

PRECAUTIONS
Direct contact with skin or eyes should be avoided. Use of gloves, goggles and other protective gear is mandatory. In case of accidental eye contact thorough water washing is advised. This should be followed up with professional medical assistance. TecR Swell is non-flammable.
Storage and Shelf life
TecR Swell must be store under cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from extremes of temperature. Shelf life is 12 months when stored as above. Failure to comply with the recommended storage conditions may result in premature deterioration of the product or packaging.
CLEANING
Tools and equipments should be cleaned within the pot of the grout. Tool Cleaner Tec Nova SOL may be used for this purpose. Cured grout can only be removed mechanically.
