Expansion joints work

  • The expansion joint shall be cleaned to be free of dust, loose particles, loosely adhering material and cement droppings. Chipping followed by scrubbing with a stiff wire brush and cleaning with brushes to remove fine dust shall form the sequence for surface preparation.
  • Back up Rod / Pad should be provided to ensure the optimum Width: Depth ratio of 2:1. The backup material should be a bond breaker (should not bond to the sealant) to prevent three-way stress on the sealant.
  • Sealing the expansion joints with TEC® POLY SEAL G grade poly sulphide Sealant.
